Geostationary satellites orbit at 22,236 miles above the earth. The major advantage of this is that, at this precise altitude positioned over the equator, geostationary satellites orbit the earth at the same rate the earth rotates.
All of Viasat’s primary satellites are GEO, benefiting our customers and end-users in a variety of ways:
